FAQ

What makes functional and biological different from regular dentistry?
We still do everything you’d expect from a great dental office—cleanings, fillings, exams—but with an added layer of intention. We ask more questions. We look for root causes. We think about how your mouth affects your whole body.
What is biological dentistry?
Biological dentistry focuses on using materials and techniques that are biocompatible (safe and gentle for your body) and minimizing toxins—like mercury, BPA, and unnecessary fluoride. It’s about supporting your body’s natural ability to heal.
What is functional dentistry?
Functional dentistry goes one step further. We look at how your airway, sleep, nutrition, and growth patterns affect oral health—and vice versa. We believe the mouth is a window to the rest of the body, and we use dentistry to support your overall wellbeing.
What's different about how you remove metal fillings?
We follow safety protocols for amalgam removal to protect both you and our team from mercury vapor and particles. This includes rubber dam isolation methods, air filtration, vacuum suction, protective gear and oxygen.
Why don't you use silver (amalgam) fillings?

Silver fillings (also known as amalgam fillings) contain a mix of metals, including mercury. While they’ve been widely used for decades, we choose not to place them for a few important reasons:

  • Biocompatibility: We prefer to use materials that are more compatible with your body and less likely to cause sensitivity or long-term concerns.
  • Aesthetics: Tooth-colored composite fillings blend beautifully with your natural teeth.
  • Mercury concerns: Although the research on mercury exposure is still evolving, we choose to avoid it as a precaution—especially when safer, more modern materials are available.

If you already have silver fillings, there’s no need to panic. But if they’re cracked, leaking, or need to be replaced, we can safely remove them using protective protocols.

Do you recommend supplements?

Yes—when appropriate. We offer Fullscript access for high-quality supplements and partner with your healthcare provider when needed. Always check with your doctor before starting anything new.

Do you treat kids?
Absolutely. In fact, we’re passionate about early intervention. We screen for airway issues, tongue ties, and growth patterns that affect facial development and breathing. Because waiting often makes things harder later.
What is ozone therapy and why do you use it?

Ozone therapy uses a special form of oxygen (O₃) to support healing and reduce harmful bacteria. In dentistry, we use medical-grade ozone gas or ozonated water to clean areas in the mouth, promote tissue repair, and support the body’s natural healing process. It’s a gentle, non-toxic way to enhance procedures like cleanings, fillings, and extractions—especially helpful in holistic and biological care.

Are you fluoride-free?
We offer fluoride-free options. We’re pro-informed choice, and happy to discuss what’s best for your family. We also offer alternatives like hydroxyapatite toothpaste and ozone treatments.
Do you work with other health providers?
Yes. We often collaborate with chiropractors, craniosacral fascial therapists, myofunctional therapists, and functional medicine practitioners to support your care—especially for airway and systemic health issues. We are happy to collaborate with your current trusted providers.
